My classroom in the year 2020 might not be a classroom at all. Although I would plan to stay in the field of education, it might take me outside of the classroom. But, if I were to stay in the classroom there would be some major differences, but also some similarities.
Looking at education's history, I think that I still would have a traditional seeming classroom with a teacher and students, desks and chairs. However, it would be enhanced with technology. I would imagine that there would be much less paper and more media storage devices used and use of the Internet to turn in assignments etc. Although this is something that is already being done, things often take a long time to trickle down and become the norm. There would probably be more computers being used in the classrooms and I would be a much better teacher. I also anticipate more resources for students being available online. Like college courses where notes, lectures and other material is uploaded to a class site and students can access the information at different times and different locations. While this is already being done, I imagine it'll become the norm and much more advanced and accessible than it is now.

It's interesting to think that we may not even be teaching in the year 2020. I like your idea that students will be turning projects in via the internet. Hopefully that will save some paper!
ReplyDeleteLove this prediction! I went all extreme on my predication, which is cool I guess, but totally not realistic. I think looking at college and seeing how lectures are podcasted, students are bringing their lap tops to class to take notes are great indicators of what our classrooms can be, or will be! I posed this question to Kacie... if the virtual me (avatar, they call it?) is teaching, where does that put me? Greece? Italy? Rome? Australia?
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo for remote location teaching! =)
